Free Downtown Wireless Internet

Free Wireless Internet Provided by Pavlov Media

The City of Champaign and Pavlov Media have teamed up to provide free wireless internet access throughout Downtown.  This free network extends over the core of Downtown and is available to anyone with a mobile device and network connection capabilities.  The goal is to enhance the visitor’s experience while exploring downtown and specifically those enjoying the outdoor cafe’s and West Side Park.

Pavlov Media, formally Fusion Broadband, was founded in 1992 by Mark Scifres on the University of Illinois campus. The company focus has been internet, phone and cable service to multi-family apartment units. Since 1992 the company has expanded to 27 states throughout the United States and is still anchored by its national headquarters located in Church Street Square in Downtown Champaign. The company has recently changed its name to Pavlov Media. Pavlov’s interest in providing this free internet service is based on broadening their exposure within the community while providing a public service directed at making Downtown a more vibrant place to visit.
