On-Street Parking
If you are coming Downtown for a quick bite to eat or a brief meeting parking at a metered on-street location is the best option for you. Many of the spaces in the heart of Downtown are regulated both by time and price. Take a look at Downtown Champaign’s parking brochure to identify which type of user you are and what meter works best for you. Our meters are divided up into four categories. Below is a table to help you know which meter is best for you, look to the parking brochure link above to see the locations of these meters.
| Color | Time |
| Red | 30 minutes or less to grab lunch or coffee to go |
| Blue | 2 hour maximum for lunch or some light shopping |
| Orange | 3 or 4 hour maximum for a movie, museum visit, or dinner |
| Green | 10 hour maximum for a day-long meeting or outing downtown |
CashKey – The Coinless Way to Pay for Parking
CashKey is a coinless payment system for use in both Downtown Champaign, Campustown, and Downtown Urbana. This key operates much like the I-Pass on Chicago tollways, by allowing you to preload payments onto a key that fits to your keychain. You can preload payments to the key at either the Parking Division office located on Edgebrook Drive or the Champaign City Hall in Downtown. Once you get your key you can insert it into any meter and it will deduct time in $.25 cent increments. It’s that simple!
For more information on the Cash Key and how you can obtain one please visit the City of Champaign’s website.
