Car Sharing Program – ZipCar

Downtown Champaign is home to two ZipCars, a Toyota Prius hybrid and a Mazda3!  These shared cars allow downtown employees and residents to commute to work by alternative means while still allowing the flexibility to run errands at a time that is convenient for you.  The cars are located in the public parking lot at Washington and Neil adjacent to the entrance off of Neil Street.

To become a member of ZipCar visit their website at www.zipcar.com. After you receive your membership card, you simply visit the Zipcar.com website or phone a toll-free number and reserve the car of your choice for the time period needed. At the appointed hour you travel to the car, swipe your member card to unlock the car, get in, and drive! The keys are in the car and a gasoline credit card is provided for fill-ups when the car is at or below 1/4 tank. Your rental comes with 180 miles of driving and you can go anywhere you like during your rental period. At $8 an hour, use of a Zipcar is an affordable way to meet your travel needs while avoiding the cost of a second (or third) family car.
