Bike and Motorcycle Parking

Bicycle Parking

Downtown Champaign offers numerous bike parking options and more are on the way.  If you are riding into Downtown please be aware of a few important items:

  1. Riding bikes on sidewalks in the commercial areas of town (including Downtown) is not permitted.  This is to avoid bike and pedestrian collisions.
  2. Bike parking is permitted at all bike loops and meter poles.  Please avoid locking bikes to trees and benches.
  3. Register your bike!  This can be done at any Champaign Fire Station but requires you bring your bike and yourself to the facility to verify ownership.
  4. Obey all traffic laws.  Downtown is a busy place and it is important that you respect the rules of the road while here.

Additional covered bike parking is available in the Hill Street Parking Deck.

Motorcycle and Scooter Parking

Motorcycle and Scooter parking is not allowed on any public sidewalk.  Instead all motorized vehicles are to use a parking space.  It is important that you not squeeze your bike between two parked cars as this is illegal and will be ticketed.  Proper parking requires that the bike be placed parallel to the curb and not backed in perpendicular.

The parking deck allows free parking for motorcycle users.
