Beginning Monday February 4, 2008 on-street parking meter rates in Downtown will increase. Rates in the core areas of Downtown will increase from $.25/hour to $.75/hour while areas around the fringe will increase to $.50/hour and remain at $.25/hour.
Meters are enforced between and Monday through Friday. To assist motorist, colored stickers will be attached to each meter stipulating rate and time requirements.
In addition a number of meters will be reprogrammed in the fringe area to 10 hour time limits to assist longer term parking for employees and clients.
Additional revenues from these changes will be contributed to the new 600 space Hill Street Parking structure. For more information on these changes please contact the City of Champaign Public Works Parking Programs at (217) 403-7050.
On Street Parking
Parking on-street in Downtown is FREE after 5:00 PM seven days a week.
Parking in Commercial Loading Zones is prohibited and subject to $30.00 fine and towing.
Please obey all marked signs and time restrictions in Downtown.
Private Parking Lots
Private parking lots are reserved for patrons only.
Select private lots are avaliable for nightime parking; please read and obey all posted signs.
Please help us keep all parking lots clean and safe.
Public Parking Lots
All metered spaces in public lots Downtown are FREE on weekends and after 5:00PM weekdays.
Parking in reserved spaces is prohibited and may result in towing at owners expense.
Loitering in Public Lots is strictly prohibited.
Please help to keep Downtown clean and do not litter in Parking Lots.
