Farmer’s Market on North First Street
Come out to this season’s opening of Champaign’s own Farmers Market on Historic North First Street, Thursday, June 10th, from 3 – 7pm! This season will feature several returning vendors as well as a few new ones too. Opening day will showcase around 17 vendors, selling vegetables, herbs, chicken pork, baked goods, as well as complete meals, kettle corn, catnip, local crafts and gift baskets and much more.
Illinois Willows, a new vendor to the Champaign Farmer’s Market, will be offering a large variety of fresh cut flowers and willows. Several vendors from last year will also be returning. Cary Howery will be returning with her vegetables and fruits, and Ed Harper is returning with his fresh and delicious produce. Goods and Gardens will be joining the market again with its fresh sales of a myriad of herbs. For those meat lovers out there, Toohill Seed & Beef Service will be providing their very popular beef jerky and bratwursts. Two BBQ vendors will be at the market this season as well, selling chicken breasts and fajitas, as well as complete meals featuring potato salad and macaroni, for those wanting to get a quick bite.
A Toffee Tale and the Leafy Tree Tea Company will be at the market for those of us with a sweeter tooth. And don’t forget about the always popular Suits by Souljah and luxurious soaps and oils from Infinitelee! Champaign’s Farmer’s Market is more than just fresh produce! Be sure to check out the amazing Capoeira dance group from the University of Illinois, performing from 4:30-5:30pm.
Throughout this year’s Farmer’s Market season, the Mettler Center and the Champaign Urbana Public health Distract are teaming up to provide you with cooking demonstration for those looking to learn healthy new recipes and add a little pizzazz to their current meals. For the little ones, this year the Storytelling Guild will be at the market to entertain children of all ages. Look for these dates coming up!
The Don Moyer’s Boys & Girls Park will also be selling their produce from the Prosperity Garden they began growing in May during this season’s Farmers Market. Be sure to look for them this summer and support this group of budding entrepreneurs.
