You are invited to Sun Singer’s premier gala wine tasting to be held in the historic Orpheum Theatre. Spend an enchanted evening in the newly restored theatre which is an incredible architectural treasure in our community. WCIA’s Dave Benton will charm the crowd as our celebrity master of ceremonies!
You will be able to sample over 250 wines from select vineyards around the world. Tickets, like fine wines, are available in limited supply. Generous discounts will be available on wine purchases at the event.
You’ll also enjoy bidding on our hand selected auction items that come from local favorites. Many unique and original items will be available for auction only at the gala including Sun Singer basket and museum packages including an event rental in the Orpheum Theatre and a Night at the Museum birthday package.

Help from the members:
How can members help out and be involved?
1- We need to borrow brooms, shovels, rakes, gloves, and/or garbage grabbers. I will be calling around to members on Wednesday to check for any help. Beginning at noon on Friday I will go around and pick up the supplies. Members may also drop them off to us and we’ll store them in the office until Friday. Please right your name or business’ name on a handle or something so that we can promptly return them after the event.
2- Join in! Take part in the communal clean-up efforts and show the students your commitment to your own neighborhood. Also a great chance to talk to students about what is downtown and get them interested in visiting again. Also a large group of CDA members to meet the students on Friday at the plaza would be great. Interns will be available but the more members the better.
3- Open your doors, hand out information, etc- With this large group of students we have the opportunity to let them know what’s downtown. Students will receive a map with the highlighted areas where they will cover when they arrive but more information about your downtown business to give them at the conclusion of the event would be great. Member businesses can drop off this information
Big THANK YOU to Jim Gould for graciously donating some trash bags and gloves for the event. We are also looking for any more gloves to borrow and donations of trash bags.

Studio Helix Grand Opening September 25th

Studio Helix, a new downtown gym, is hosting its grand opening on September 25th starting at 5:30 pm. Come on over to find out the services at the new facility. They offer evaluation, personal training, a variety of massages, classes, medical exercise, and much more.
The grand opening will entail salsa dancing and live music. They would like to invite any member of the CDA to join the fun for no charge at all. Also if you are a member/client of Studio Helix the VIP lounge will be available. If not beverages of wine and beer will be available at the cash bar. Non-member entrance is $10.
