The Illinois Marathon is coming to Champaign-Urbana and there will be no better place to watch the excitement than in Downtown Champaign. Runners will be completing a 5K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon on April 11, 2009. The race starts just south of Assembly Hall and ends at the 50 yard line of historic Memorial Stadium. The race winds through both Champaign and Urbana traveling through both Downtown Champaign, Campustown, Meadowbrook Park, and Centennial Park. Don’t miss out on this great sight. 2009 Marathon Map (updated 1/26/2009)

Great to see the Illinois Marathon so prominently promoted. We think downtown Champaign should be a focal point for runners and spectators of this race. We hope that these businesses do themselves proud, bringing out their customers and employees to view the race and cheer on the runners, and providing on-course entertainment. Please pass on the word for businesses such as Esquire Lounge and others to open early for business on race day and to let their customers know about the great opportunities to view the race.
On a related point, the course map included on your web site site is outdated. Revisions to the course have been made to accommodate the needs of CU MTD. An updated version can be found at:

Also, within the next few weeks, expect a final version of the map that shows detailed locations of race aid stations, relay exchanges, and entertainment.
Again thanks,
